Blue Arbor

author

Zdzisław Beksiński

description

Mediums: fiberboard, oil.
Location: The Historical Museum in Sanok (Poland).

Briefly about the painting:

This painting, according to eyewitnesses, was in the guest room of the house of the Beksinskis and was a favourite painting of Sofia, the artist’s wife. The work has been exhibited many times, including several weeks in Paris. It differs from other creations of the master by the absence of an atmosphere of fear and misfortune. However, an exciting tone is still present – it is expressed by the presence of a strange and by no means benevolent red creature peering out from behind a snow-white column of a glamorous arbor. The artist characterized this style as “baroque”.
