The canvas “The Seller of Birds” is one of the best compositions of the Manansala, because it is a landmark work that influenced the development of Cubism in the entire fine arts of Asia. Birds and barred free-swinging cells intersect, their colours mix, creating a complex composition of faceted planes. The reflections of the bright plumage of live goods are noticeable even in the shades of the skin of the seller and his hat. The unusually subtle sense of colour, skillfully created by its gradations, which are so frequent in this picture, are the hallmark of the style of Vincent Manansala.
