description

The Hirschhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington, DC (the USA).

Acrylic on canvas.

In some creations of the Chevrons series, Kenneth Noland shifted the center of the composition to one side, as he did in the painting “Bend Sinister”. This technique makes the work more dynamic, complementing it with bright contrasting colours. As usual, the artist uses an uncoated canvas and fills the plane of the figures with a uniform colour, which does not create any texture on the surface of canvas when soaked into it. The master leaves most of the picture unpainted, placing the figure in a neutral space.
