description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: private collection.

The artist created this painting basing on the large-scale work that he presented at the Venice Biennale in 2015. The painter depicted himself naked. The semi-abstract figure is located upside down and has light colours on an almost black background. In the picture, the influence of Jackson Pollock’s action painting is noticeable; it is expressed in spontaneous spraying of paints on a canvas placed on the floor. Particular attention is drawn to the fact that the human figure is vertically halved by an uneven black line that resembles a crack in an old tree and hints at the venerable age of the author of the picture.
