Aviator’s Laboratory

author

Aleksei Morgunov

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: the State Museum of Modern Art in Thessaloniki (Greece).

The painter created this canvas using some canons of analytical cubism. This is especially true for almost monochrome gamut with muted dim shades as if the artist used pencils. The Cubist postulate of flowing and combining objects with the background was also maintained. At the same time, Morgunov did not fragment either the faces of the characters or objects – they remain stable, and geometric transparent and translucent elements are superimposed on top of the image. It seems that the people are standing behind the glass, which displays the model of the aircraft, various tools and objects. Critics rightly saw the influence of Picasso in this painting by Aleksei.
