This is one of the most extraordinary and mysterious early works of the artist. As we can understand from the name, the work is devoted to Giuseppe Arcimboldo, a famous artist and representative of Mannerism. The art of this painter of the 16th century has elements characteristic of Surrealism, which appeared in the world art much later. Its specific portraits, made in the form of the unusual combination of objects, herbs and animals, made impression on Enrico Donati and inspired him to create a similar, much more complex “portrait”.
