author

David Hockney

description

Mediums: acrylic, canvas.
Location: the Art Institute of Chicago, the USA.

Hockney painted his acquaintances – a couple of collectors whose surname was Weisman. The couple is depicted at home as if they briefly went out onto the terrace of their house to meet a guest or have a cup of coffee. They are surrounded by various objects of art, among which a dark totem pole is noticeable, seeming to be the third character of the picture at first glance. The work is filled with a kind of humor of the author and subtle hints. The figures do not look affable as the man clenches fists, and the woman shows her teeth slightly.
