Albert Einstein

author

Sergey Konenkov

description

Mediums: tinted gypsum.
Location: the S.T. Konenkova museum, Moscow (Russia).

The Princeton University Directorate ordered Konenkov to create the bust of the scientist – the first final version of the work is located in this institution. Numerous photographs speak of the author’s close friendship with the physicist’s family. The recognizable face of A. Einstein is conveyed emotionally and with a certain amount of friendly humor. The secret of Konenkov’s surprisingly lively portraits was simple: the sculptor depicted the real face of the model – characteristic facial expressions, gestures, emotions; for this, he always communicated with the posing person. Copies of this work can be found in many countries of the world. Later, the sculptor depicted the mathematician fully.
