In the context of painting, the term “Suprematism” implied the dominance of colour over other components in the painting. Having released colour, the Suprematist embodied the harmony of a man and the cosmos in art. In addition, he emphasized the interest in the non-objective, as well as in the simplest motives, since they conveyed the forms best. Menkov’s composition is dominated by two colours, indicated in the name, but the dark rounded forms that set the rhythm are also emphasized.
