Briefly about the painting:
One of the works often reproduced and characteristic of the “fantastic” period reflects the artist’s personal memories. As a teenager, the artist survived the horrors of the war and suffered from a shell rupture that damaged fingers of his hand. The most important thing for the author was the atmosphere that he wanted to create in his painting. For the effect, he chose extremely tragic moments, and also resorted to very emotional color schemes. A lonely creature with a head wound and a bloody stain on the face is threatened with death – the background is a huge conflagration.
