This self-portrait of Mikhail Tsymbasov, which he created when he was 32 years old, is made in a realistic manner and soft colours, inherent in the artist’s creative method. A serious and thoughtful young man in a white shirt looks at the viewer from the canvas. His direct and open look speaks of an honest character and good intentions, fully confirmed by the reviews of Tsybasov’s contemporaries, who considered him a sincere and conscientious person. The simple atmosphere in the room speaks of his addiction to order, both in art and in everyday life, and the look of spring Leningrad indicates the artist’s sincere love for the city in which he lived and worked most of his life.
