Non-objective composition

author

Mikhail Matyushin

description

Mediums: tempera, paper.
Location: The private collection of S. I. Grigoryants, Moscow (Russia).

About the painting:

Mikhail Matyushin created only few fine art works that can be characterized as Abstract Cubism. This style was rather transient in search of the master and theorist. In this composition, experts also see some futuristic dynamics of volume and color. Wrong and demarcated by the thick black contour figures “grow” out of each other, occupying a faceless white space diagonally from the bottom left corner. At the same time, the qualities of tempera allowed the author to express juicy local colors of the palette.
