Location: The Tate Modern Gallery, London (the UK).

The painting created according to all the canons of Vorticism consists of sharp triangular figures, diagonal lines of different thicknesses, parallel rectangles and is a fragment of urban architecture. The composition is built in such a way that it can be perceived both as a top view (as if we are seeing staircases going down a skyscraper) and as a volumetric vertical with movement converging to a “nodal point”. The work illustrates one of the definitions of the Vorticist Manifesto – “strong centrifugal absorption of everything that is around”. The most angular elements are highlighted by the author in black, which enhances the impression of aggression.
