Hyper-Mannerism (Anachronism)

description

Key points:

From the Italian “ipermanierismo”. From the Greek “ana” – back, hronos – time.

The term was introduced by the Italian art critic I. Tomaccioni.

Hypermanerism was an art movement of postmodern painting that interprets Mannerist, Baroque, Renaissance painting. Originated in Italy, later gained popularity in France.

The objects of hypermanerism are characterized by physical lightness, the figures seem to lean against the air. Paleness is inherent in bodies. The composition is balanced – most often one character is depicted, in contrast to mannerism. A specific aerial perspective – space (sky, air) – is oversaturated with bright colours even when removed.

Key ideas:

The artist analyzes the art of the past through a dialogue with painting, adjusted for the present.

Anachronism is characterized by eclectic principles – a mixture of stylistic devices of neo-baroque, neoclassicism. It is believed to originate from the metaphysical painting of Giorgio de Chirico.
