The sculptures of the Gazing Ball series are completely different from the rest of Jeff Koons’s creations. In them, the artist used copies of the famous statues of the Antiquity, to each of which he attached a bright blue mirror ball. Such balls were a traditional decoration of green spaces; in the 19th century, they were often placed in gardens and parks. This ball is also present in Koons’ copies of paintings by such prominent artists as Leonardo da Vinci, Titian and Rembrandt. Koons used the same object, symbolizing an infinite form, at the same time empty and with some secret meaning, to create a series of photographs, sculptures and cover for an album of famous singer Lady Gaga.
