Hercules

Location: Buenos Aires (Argentina).

The first casting of this work in bronze was made after several preliminary sketches and exhibited at the 1910 Salon of the National Society of Fine Arts. The height of the first work was two and a half meters. The sculpture was a resounding success and was bought by famous sculptor G. Toma for the garden in Medon. He tried to persuade the author not to make copies of it, but Bourdelle refused. The work was returned, and it was immediately bought by Prince Eugene from Sweden (located in Waldemarsudd near Stockholm). Toma changed his mind, but had to be content with one of the following creations. In total there were 10 copies of Heracles the archer – they are in Lyon, Tokyo, Rome, Prague, Buenos Aires and other cities. The original work made of plaster is in the Ingres Museum in Montauban.
