The team’s mission was to create a dystopian homage to Los Angeles in 4049. A city that is covered with a layer of dense smog, constant rain and snow due to severe environmental pollution.

Miniature city installations were built by Weta Workshop in Wellington, New Zealand and then filmed by Alks Funk.

Blade Runner 2049 is a 2017 American neo-noir science fiction film directed by Denis Villeneuve and written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green.
