Many of the large sculptures by Gabo, now installed in different cities and open-air museums of the world, first appeared as petite models. His proposal to use the 1936 plane dynamics idea for the Monument at Imperial Airways airport was not supported. A small, about a meter in diameter, original bronze design of 1960 is in the collection of the Tate Gallery. In the Japanese open-air sculpture museum, Gabo’s plan was finally realized, but the artist was no longer able to attend the opening.
