The artist, accused of formalism in his late creative period, painted landscapes and still lifes, and also portraits of mostly unknown ordinary people. The manner of the artist, very constrained in color solutions, is close to impressionistic, and in terms of emotion, is close to Expressionism. Tatlin’s strokes are small and nervous, the facial features are slightly indicated. The worker is depicted sitting on a bench in such a way that his large hands, lying on his knees, are in the foreground and this makes them look huge. The impression is enhanced by the same fuzzy image technique.
