In many of his works, Allan Kaprow used sound effects to create the right atmosphere. In the happening “Words”, he recorded his voice and played the recording during the performance. The participants moved around the rooms, the walls of which were covered with canvases with various inscriptions, advertising posters and drawings by the artist. Each visitor had an opportunity to add their own words or draw something anywhere; this turned the viewer into a co-author of the work, a direct participant in the creative process.
