The woman is depicted in perspective from above, as if the artist watched her from a balcony. Her figure is depicted quite abstractly, and only her blue hands allow to understand where exactly she is among the clusters and layering of geometric shapes. The heroine sets up some complicated mechanism, similar to a stringed musical instrument or radio with her unnaturally long hands, while bright colors and round motion create emotionality and dynamics in the painting. As many other paintings by Penrose, this work resembles collage, though it is made in the technique of oil painting.
