1935
Location: The collection of Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Bergman (Chicago, the USA).
The work dedicated to the famous dancer and actress, Tilly Losch, is one of Cornell’s first “shadow boxes”. It is distinguished by a small number of details, in contrast to subsequent works, which are more complex and saturated with various objects. In the space painted with a dreamy blue colour, we see a girl hovering above the ground on thin silver threads, like on a magic parachute. The artist made a colour accent on a bright red wooden bead, which the heroine holds in her hands. The atmospheric and lyrical composition evokes light nostalgic feelings and immerses you in a fantastically peaceful world, transparent like crystal.
