The Tragedians

author

Leonor Fini

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The CFM Gallery of N. Zuckerman, Paris (France).

The painting was painted by the 25-year-old artist for the first solo exhibition at Galerie Jacques Bonjean in Paris and refers to the period characterized as transitional, when Fini was searching for her own manner. Specialists suppose that it has some influence of Picasso – the painter, which was popular at that time. It can be seen in the use of Blue and Pink cycles of the master and the free manner of applying the layer of paint. However, talking to Pablo, Leonor directly asked him, why he always paint the same. G. Levy told about this case, not mentioning the reaction of the Spanish man. The frontally presented composition shows the viewer a tragic episode and is similar to a scene from a theatrical production on an antique theme.
