A large-scale project called the “Palace of Communism” was not implemented in real life, like many other ideas of Yakov Chernikhov. It is pure architectural fantasy, similar not to a drawing of a future building but an illustration depicting the perfect harmony of form and space. The palace has a dynamic, elongated shape. It is so high that its spiers seem to be pierced by low-hanging clouds; at the very top, the artist placed human figures bravely opposing the elements. An interesting detail is a large curved arch at the base of the structure, which makes the design elegant and light, despite its impressive size.
