Pop art, which first appeared in England, very quickly gained fans overseas – in the United States of America. The most prominent representatives of this “folk art”, such as Jasper Jones and Robert Rauschenberg, used not only photographs and clippings from magazines but also everyday objects, making them works of art. Their example inspired Peter Blake to create the composition “The First Real Goal?” However, instead of drawing a target on canvas, the artist bought a real industrial target in the store and placed it on the board covered with enamel. Thus, this work became as close as possible to real life, reaching the goal of combining art and everyday life.
