The Colosseum

Briefly about the painting:

The large surrealistic canvas reflects the author’s associative representations associated with Roman classical culture. In the work, the building of the Coliseum looks as decorative as the surrounding sky with sunset bright pink clouds. The style is determined by the main character – a young lady who, apparently, dreams of a journey or remembers it, comfortably sitting on a sofa in modern style. An alarming note in the composition is made by a dishevelled black animal, somehow keeping balance on the narrow back of the sofa, as well as several strange smiling dark heads depicted at the bottom of the picture.
