Mediums: tempera, paper.
Location: The Xul Solar Museum (Buenos Aires, Argentina).
In this urban landscape, the artist almost fully rejects the colour, working in muted grayish-brown tones. The atmosphere of the painting is gloomy due to the consequences of World War II, which destroyed many cities almost to the ground. The painting of Xul Solar has frequently repeating in his art motives of steep mountains with stairs; however, this time they are replaced by high-rise buildings of the city. The human figures in the picture are tiny, resembling ants endlessly swarming in their anthill.
