This artwork was created when the artist was at the peak of his creative career and prepared materials for the book “The History of Magic and Occultism”. The creator with an easel (his figure resembles thin sculptures of Seligmann’s friend Alberto Giacometti) is surrounded by almost exotic nature. Wavy geological formations, as if twisting as a result of the earth’s rotation during these years became the main vocabulary of the painter’s art. At the same time, experts see the master’s knowledge of cubist painting. He himself called such images “a priori elements”.
