This is indeed one of the best paintings by the artist, whose works are often criticized due to their eclecticism. Its expressive colours resemble Fauvism, while the swirling smear makes you think of Van Gogh. However, Burliuk’s concept is original – spring (a green pyramid) and summer (a red and more “broad-shouldered” triangle) seems to be a couple. Looking at the joyful multi-coloured meadow painted in the same way as children do, and at the light sky with tufts of pink clouds, it is impossible not to feel satisfaction and even happiness. Not only because the warm sunny weather came (literally, on foot), but also because life goes on and definitely has love.
