Location: Castle of Moravsky Krumlov, Czech Republic.
Canvas from the cycle named “Slavic epic”.
In this work, the artist used different colors symbolizing different times of Slavic history. Blue is ancient times. Red is the Middle Ages. Yellow is the time of joy and freedom. Working on the canvas, Mucha first sketched watercolor and gouache paints, then transferred the drawing to the canvas with the help of a tracing paper. The basis for the picture was egg tempera. The details of the drawing were done with oil paints.
