description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts (Russia).

The suprematist paintings “Tea Room” and “Tea Room No. 5” were painted in one year – the second version is more simplified, but also more picturesque. It does not have perfectly straight lines, and also lacks some decorative details. As befits Suprematism in its traditional sense, the plot and the spatial perspective are absent, since the determining factors are the geometric shape and open colours. The picture has dynamics created by compositional contrasts due to colour and geometric contrasts. At the same time, the artist was supposed to achieve complete liberation of art from visualization and bring the used artistic techniques to a minimum.
