The artist’s largest canvas, which consists of 50 identical connected panels. Hockney depicted the cloudy English nature, which in recent decades has become closer to him than sunny California landscapes. When asked what inspired him to create such a huge canvas, David replied that he wanted to achieve the maximum effect of presence so that each viewer could feel inside this landscape. The artist worked on such a big picture for a relatively short time – about six weeks. At the same time, Hockney, an adherent of new technologies, photographed every canvas and connected them on a tablet to present the general view of his large-scale work.
