Collage paintings by James Rosenquist primarily contained advertising images and slogans, but over time, he began to increasingly include abstract elements in them, as is observed in this work. Bright, dynamic forms randomly intertwine in it, creating the effect of tremendous speed and changes in the surrounding space like a funnel. The painting is included in the cycle “Speed of Light”, which explores the reaction of human vision during movement, and is based on Einstein’s theory of relativity. This combination of scientific developments and bright poster style is typical of the artist’s later works and made them relevant not only throughout the artist’s career, but also in the history of art in general.
