Briefly about the painting:
The genre portrait of a young woman with a child in her hands is made in an impressionistic manner. The light canvas gives warm feelings – the artist expressed the feeling of joy experienced by a mother holding her restless baby and it does not matter that he is not letting her spin. In the late period of his creative career, Kairiūkštis preferred portrait and landscape painting, but remained faithful to his favorite palette – a combination of blue and ocher shades. He also uses his method of diagonally directed brush strokes, as if the light moves through the space of the painting from left to right and upwards.
