Mediums: oil, plates, wood.
Location: the Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao (Spain).
The last creation of a series of works with plates appeared after the artist’s trip to Spain in the late 1970s. The colour palette of the picture resembles Spanish landscapes scorched by the sun, and the head, which occupies the central part of the canvas, is similar to Picasso’s drawings. An uneven surface with sharp fragments and a strange head without a body cause a sense of danger and anxiety. A thick layer of paint is applied to the surface with strong expressive strokes in the style of Jackson Pollock.
