The Tate Gallery, London (the UK).
Woodcut on paper.
The work belongs to the series of works “Drop Out”, which Tom Wesselmann created under the impression of his vacation on the sea coast. The special atmosphere of the sun-drenched beach and the relaxation of sunbathing bodies are reliably conveyed in this picture. Its composition is interesting because the whole foreground is occupied by the female body, and the artist sees the surrounding landscape through a small clearance, limited by her legs, chest and arm. In the scorching sun, the girl’s body looks like a light, almost white silhouette, and only the nipples of her breasts and part of her mouth form bright accents, giving the picture a playful, seductive and erotic mood.
