1957 - 1959
Mediums: wood, mirror, paint, oak leaves, aluminum, textiles, bitumen, electric lamps.
Location: the Pompidou National Museum of Modern Art, Paris (France).
The work consists of several panels installed on the floor with various objects placed on them: a broken mirror, artificial fruits and light bulbs. The panels are interconnected using special grooves, and they can be installed in any order. Before each exhibition, the artist or the curator of the exposition placed the panels as he saw fit, thus changing the composition and making the work “movable”. The work “Permanent panels” became a prototype of happening, which implies the possibility of modifying and creating a work by both the author and the viewer.
