description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The National Art Gallery of Prague (Czech Republic).

About the painting:

The portrait of the Czech poet, one of the founders of Surrealism in his country, the laureate of the International Peace Prize and the national writer of The Czechoslovak Socialist Republic, is created in the style of surrealism. The writer is depicted in some indefinite foggy space, from which a friendly horse face closely approached his face. Just like in other paintings, the author has very concise color solutions – apart from white, there are only shades of brown. The depicted writer, who had thrown back his head, is depicted with a great portrait likeness, but with a share of good-natured humor.
