The portrait painted in a realistic manner demonstrates the author’s masterly possession of traditional, even academic, painting techniques. The innovative artist could work in many styles simultaneously; and his unique experimentation did not reflect on portraits of his family members painted with great love. He masterfully painted the face of his younger sister, a concentrating singer, and the satin of the fabric of the chair, a decorative panel on the wall and other details. After the death of their brother, sisters Evdokia and Maria took care of his paintings and literary works; in the 1970s, E. Glebova donated a part of the collection to the Russian Museum.
