Van Gogh painted “Pink Roses” when he lived in Auvers-sur-Oise near Paris. He used soft and melancholic color combination. Vincent van Gogh managed to convey the feeling of the proximity of the roses to the viewer. Sharp dark blue contours of leaves and stems of roses, as well as vibrating and winding lines are an example of the influence Japanese woodcarving had on the artist.
