Flower still lifes were one of the artist’s favourite topics. A lush and at the same time delicate bouquet of phloxes in a porcelain vase was painted in the style of realism. Golovin used a unique method – he depicted a white vase against the background of white light draperies, and even the fallen petals at the foot of the jar are pale pink. Such a solution allows you to focus your attention on the beauty of garden flowers depicted very scrupulously and truthfully, with all the shades characteristic of academism. It would be most precise to call the whole composition exquisite.
