Gorky was a big fan of Paul Cezanne and considered him the greatest master of contemporary art. This admiration was reflected in several works by the artist, made in the famous “Cezanne” style, including the still life “Pears, peaches and a jug”. The author paid particular attention to the shape of the objects and their position in the space; however, he did not emulate his older colleague and idol but tried to understand his vision of fine art and carefully examine his creative experience. Ordinary objects get special poetic sound in his painting: ripe fruits exude fragrance, and the jug seems to be full of sweet Armenian wine.
