1915
Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: private collection, Geneva, Switzerland.
The work is a drawing on paper glued onto cardboard. There are two primary colors – black and brown. The portrait was probably painted from memory. It looks quite different than Picasso, but some features coincide.
Modigliani was a fan of Pablo Picasso. In 1906, he personally met the outstanding colleague who was only three years older than he. From time to time, the friends met at the Parisian cafe “Rotonda”, where they talked about arts and life. There is also a version that once the artists were competitors in arts. However, it is not proven.
