An early painting by Gerhard Richter created in the aesthetics of pop art. The work is based on a photograph of Bridget Bardot, from which the artist used only one part – the lips of the actress, which attract with their frank sexuality. Blurred contours of the face distort the perspective, making the image seem to be defocused or shot from a distance. In this work, Richter’s style is seen; he experimented with the image by using dry brushes and a spatula on wet paint.
