1940
Location: Collection Richard L. Feigen (New York, the USA).
The artist was an avid fan of choreography and modern ballet and regularly attended ballet performances in New York. He knew many dancers and often dedicated his “boxes” to them, and sometimes presented them as a gift. The work intended for Cleo de Merod does not have a glass partition. It is made in the form of a wooden casket, inside of which there are bottles associated with the sacred vessels of the Egyptians – canopies. Each of these mini-vessels has a name, content and hidden, mysterious meaning.
