Van Gogh created this painting during his stay in Arles, a town in the south of France. He was inspired by surrounding landscapes, views of urban and rural areas. Harvesting people are the symbol of heavy daily work. This painting is believed to be the only van Gogh’s canvas ever sold in his lifetime.
