description

Acrylic on paper.

Private collection.

The famous poster by Keith Haring depicts three “dancing people” who, like the three renowned folklore characters, see nothing, hear nothing and say nothing. In 1988, the artist was diagnosed with AIDS, and he began to pay a lot of attention to this problem in his works, warning other people about the danger. The topic of this disease at that time was poorly covered in the media, and people simply did not have all the necessary information on how to avoid the deadly virus. In his work, Keith Haring criticizes the American government, which pays little attention to informing the population, contributing in such a way, not in an indirect way, to the spread of AIDS, as well as to the negative attitude of society towards HIV-infected and sick people.
