1865 - 1870
Mediums: marble.
Location: the Rodin Museum, Paris. France.
The sculpture depicts twenty-year-old Rose Beuret, who was a constant model and companion of the sculptor during his whole life. Although Rodin’s relationship with the opposite sex was inconsistent, he retained his relationship with Rose until the end of his life, having married her before his very death. The sculpture is a small bust of a young girl. Her face framed by thick hair is full of freshness and vitality. As the author himself said, Rose had no grace of a city dweller; but she had physical strength and a lively, open temperament that impresses the viewer.
