Flowers of World Prosperity

author

Pavel Filonov

description

Mediums: oil, canvas.
Location: The State Russian Museum, St. Petersburg (Russia).

The painting included in the cycle “Entering the World’s Prosperity” allows you to visually trace the principles of analytics developed by the author. To “make” a picture, the artist sets the point from which small strokes come out. Every centimeter of the canvas is drawn with a very thin brush. The blooming flowers are a key image of analytical realism, since the process reflects the essence of the idea – the development and flowering, according to Filonov, “developmental biology”. The artist painted flowers, making up a huge number of planes and several states of petals on the surface. It shows at the same time the growth stages, starting from the seed. The flowers gain strength, revealing swollen buds, which gradually open fully, and then wither and fall. However, new ones are born from them; the viewer observes all this in different perspectives.
