Having experienced a significant influence of the ideas of V. Tatlin and A. Rodchenko, the artist began work on a large series of “Figures” in 1919. Apart from the technique of cubofuturism, the artist used some constructivist discoveries in her compositions. For example, Stepanova began to actively use drawing devices, which was utterly unacceptable in traditional painting art. In this picture, with the help of the correct circles and semicircles made by a compass, the artist outlined the joints of the character, which made him look like a robot.
